We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated P.E. Solar Electrical/Design Engineer with a strong background in the construction industry to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of solar energy systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that meet our clients' needs and align with our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities:
P.E. Licensed REQUIRED for this role.
1. Design and engineer solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and codes.
2. Utilize ETAP software for electrical system modeling, design, and analysis.
3. Perform site-specific engineering analysis or evaluation of energy efficiency and solar projects involving residential, commercial, or industrial customers.
4. Create and revise drawings and layouts for solar energy systems, including system components and electrical interconnections.
5. Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of solar design elements into overall project design.
6. Conduct electrical load calculations and determine appropriate sizes and locations of photovoltaic (PV) array and inverters.
7. Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
8. Evaluate plans or specifications to determine technological or environmental implications.
9. Participate in the development of design and installation standards and quality assurance procedures.
10. Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
Qualifications:
P.E. Licensed REQUIRED for this role.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in solar design and electrical engineering within the construction industry.
3. Proficiency in ETAP or similar electrical system modeling software.
4. Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including knowledge of PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and balance of system (BOS) components.
5. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), particularly as it relates to PV systems.
6. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
7. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
8. Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
9. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
