POSITION SUMMARY: Sugarbush Resort is seeking Snowmaking Control Room Technicians to join our team this upcoming Winter Season! Control Room Technicians are a critical component in laying the groundwork for an amazing ski season. This position runs from late October until early February (weather dependent) and has the possibility to move into different positions around the resort after snowmaking has ended.
Snowmaking shifts run 12 hours on 4 days per week schedule, with the potential for overtime. Day and night shifts available.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Equipment operation and monitoring, starting and stopping pumps and compressors, constantly monitoring system to maintain efficiency.
- Operate computer controls (some equipment remotely and some controlled locally).
- Maintain communication with on-hill and maintenance staff, relay information regarding supply/demand.
- Communicate proper gun settings to on-hill staff and start and stop automatic hydrants when requested.
- Serve as a communication link between snowmaking and other departments.
- Hourly data recording of operating equipment and system parameters.
- Tracking Sugarbush and Valley total power wattage and ensuring power demand does not exceed transmission system limits.
- Tracking the use of and maintaining peripheral snowmaking equipment including radios, tools and diesel fuel tank levels.
- Updating current weather conditions and patterns.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Mechanical orientation is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, 2-way radio, and in person.
- Must be comfortable occasionally performing heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and lesser weights more often.
- Must be comfortable withstanding loud noise from machinery.
