Senior-level Assistant Resident Engineers | World Trade Center
Client:
The Assistant Resident Engineer will work for our client, a leading civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recently voted as one of the Top 25 Engineering firms by NJ Biz. This firm has steadily grown based on a solid reputation for providing quality service. The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers and inspectors throughout New Jersey and New York. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.
Description:
Reporting to the Engineer of Construction at the World Trade Center, the Assistant Resident Engineer will manage scope of work, schedule contractors, evaluate construction problems, determine that delivery of projects are on-time and within budget. Work generally pertains to building improvements, utility modifications and upgrades, with some MEP knowledge.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Resident Engineer will manage the scope of work, schedule contractors, evaluate construction problems, and determine that delivery of projects are on-time and within budget.
Act as day-to-day construction manager for assigned projects reporting to the Resident Engineer.
Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in coordinating with facility forces to advance work in the most efficient manner.
Understand the contracts and assist the Resident Engineer to administer and enforce policy.
Advise the Resident Engineer of contract disputes.
Oversee field staff.
Review contractor payments, assisting the Resident Engineer in reporting monthly construction progress.
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar.
MINIMUM of 10 or more years of experience in construction management.
Familiar with construction documents.
Familiar with all applicable specifications and codes.
OSHA 30-hour certification required.
Familiarity with NYC building codes.
Valid driver’s license or other government ID required.
Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A PE License is desirable but not required.
ACI concrete, and Structural steel bolting certifications are desirable but not required.
Education:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar.
