Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Physical Security Officer to work in our Physical Security department. Our team works an onsite, 4x10 schedule located out of our site and town facilities with every Friday off. You will report to the Physical Security Manager and is does not have managerial responsibilities. Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for ensuring the facility's security interests are being adequately protected in accordance with approved SSP. Will provide direct and indirect support to all facility operations and work directly with facility program managers to ensure compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) security orders while maintaining operations productivity. Provide oversight of all current and future security projects to ensure protective measures are implemented in a consistent and fiscally responsible manner.
  • Function as the facility's primary security point of contact and will facilitate communication and effectiveness between the different Safeguards and Security entities at various INL and DOE facilities. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Is required to network with key contacts outside own area or expertise.
  • Ensuring security policy and practices are compliant; determining facility compensatory measures in conjunction with approved SSP and ensuring appropriate personnel are cognizant of them; approving and enforcing International visitor/assignee security plans; reviewing and providing input for appropriate protective force orders; conducting preliminary investigations for security discrepancies; making determinations on security incidents and ensuring proper notifications are made to BEA management and DOE-Idaho (DOE-ID).
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 5-8+ years relevant experience or an advanced degree plus 3-6+ years.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. This position is required to obtain and maintain Human Reliability Program (HRP) certifications.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of physical security systems, practices and requirements.
  • Integrated knowledge of safeguards and security disciplines.
  • Ability to generate detailed plans and procedures, reports, and other documents.
  • Must understand the vulnerability analysis process and be able to apply it in a practical way for asset protection.
  • Must be able to interface well with high-level management to include BEA, Idaho Environmental Coalition and DOE management.
Job Information:
  • Salary Grade: PR0300: 200 ($83,412 - $137,592) / Salary Grade PR0400: 210 ($95,928 - $158,232)
