Job Description Perryville Bible Church (Wakefield, RI) - Lead Pastor The Big Picture Perryville Bible Church ( is seeking a full time Lead Pastor.
Requirements The Church Perryville Bible Church was established in 1843 as The Second Baptist Church of South Kingstown. It retained this name for sixty years until becoming Perryville Baptist Church in January of 1903. In the summer of 2005 we became Perryville Bible Church. Perryville Church is an evangelical church not affiliated with any mainline denominational organizations. While our theological distinctives are Baptistic, we welcome and desire to minister to everyone.Perryville Church is located minutes from several beaches, the University of Rhode Island, and the towns of Wakefield, Narragansett, Charlestown, and Westerly. We have a membership of approximately 50 people with a Sunday morning service attendance of about 70-80.

Able to exercise the spiritual gift of pastor/teacher - Eph. 4:11
Believe in and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ - 1 Cor. 15:3-4
Meet the qualifications of an Elder - 1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4
Comply with the doctrinal statement and constitution of Perryville Bible Church.
Graduate from accredited Bible college or seminary.
Ordained or eligible to be ordained
Responsibilities Teaching "And he gave some as...pastors and teachers" - Ephesians 4:11
Possess a passion for preaching and teaching with an emphasis on expository teaching
Develop and train ministry leaders
"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. - 2 Timothy 4:2
Shepherding "shepherd the flock of God among you" - 1 Peter 5:2
Administer the ordinances of Communion and baptism
Challenge members to serve in ministries and exercise their own spiritual gifts
Encourage effective visiting program to members and prospects
Perform weddings, funerals, infant/child dedications
Counsel according to ability
Lead and Support And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. - 1 Thessalonians 5:14
Communicate the biblical purpose, values, and mission of the local church.
Cooperate with local pastors/churches in appropriate ecumenical efforts and witness
Oversight "exercising oversight...according to the will of God" - 1 Peter 5:2
Support establishing priorities
Serve as a member of the Elder Board
Assist with the planning of the agenda of the Elder Board meetings
Oversee those who direct the operation of church services
Support the global and local mission outreach program of Perryville Church
Benefits The Compensation Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Compensation package is valued in the 70 - 80k range. PBC owns a parsonage which is part of the compensation package.
