Job Description: Faculty, Adjunct Position Overview The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):
SCI 6600 Infectious Diseases Epidemiology (Spring, 3 credits)
Course Description Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health problems, with the goal of disease management/control/prevention. This course will provide an overview and introduction to epidemiology, while exploring considerations specific to infectious diseases, such as outbreak detection, contact tracing, containment, and vaccination. Statistical and methodological approaches used in epidemiological research will be examined. In addition to applications in public health and clinical practice, this course will consider the role of epidemiology in targeting unmet medical needs and identifying opportunities for innovations that detect, treat, or prevent such problems. Special attention will be given to the issues of preparing for and responding to epidemics and other extreme outbreaks through examination of recent viral and bacterial epidemics.
The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Associate Dean of Faculty and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.

Education and Experience - Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
- Prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred.
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.
