We are currently seeking an Animal Laboratory Technician  with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD

\nThis is a long-term contract position which offers:\n

\n TASKS . The contractor shall:\n\n

\n\t
1. Perform experiments with animals, including but not limited to instrument preparation and sterilization, animal preparation, sterile and non-sterile scrub assistance for the support of aseptic surgeries of animals.\n\t
2. Assist with anesthesia support to include induction, maintenance, and recovery of animals for surgery, MRI scans, Pet scans.\n\t
3. Assist the Federal Task Leader and other staff with technical, clinical, and basic support of research experiment involving animals.\n\t
4. Performs routine animal health surveillance and assessment.\n\t
5. Assist with the routine care, treatments and support as prescribed by a veterinarian or the Federal Task Leader\n\t
6. Record and collect diagnostic results and provide support to include sample collection, preparation, and analysis, (Dentistry, Hematology, Histology, Parasitological, Urology, Radiology and TB testing).\n\t
7. Assist with maintenance of the lab, such as maintains and update logbooks and inventory of drugs and supplies for the lab.\n\t
8. Provide routine preventive maintenance for all laboratory support equipment.\n\t
9. Assist the Federal Task Leader with animal and facility emergencies.\n\t
10. Assist in the Federal Task Leader with NIMH environmental enrichment program,\n\t
11. Adhere to all safety and animal protocols and regulations, such as but not limited to wearing proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and showering when necessary.\n

\n REQUIREMENTS . The contractor must have:\n\n

\n\t
1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required; at least two years of college preferred.\n\t
2. Minimum of 2 years of work experience is required.\n\t
3. Working knowledge of computers and software is a required, such as experience using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, MS Teams.\n\t
4. Must be certified as an AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT), AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) preferred. Other certifications or degrees may be considered.\n\t \n\t\t
5. Must have at least two years of rodent experience in laboratory animal facilities.\n\t\t
6. Must be able to work independently and communicate well.\n\t\n\t\n
